Katie Akif

Katie Akif joined the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) Surveillance Research Program (SRP) in the Office of the Associate Director as a Public Health Advisor. She is currently providing project management and support for SRP and SEER related projects across all the branches as well as acting as an SRP Leadership Team Coordinator and liaison for the program’s strategic planning efforts. She also manages and facilitates efforts related to SEER data linkages with external sources of data, such as pharmacy, medical claims, and more.

Prior to converting to her position in SRP, Katie began her time at NCI Division of Cancer Control and Population Science (DCCPS) as a Presidential Management Fellow (PMF) who completed rotations within EGRP, HDRP, BRP, and at the NIH Office of Disease Prevention. Katie was also a Research Coordinator at Westat for the Children’s Health Exposure Analysis Resource (CHEAR).

Katie earned her Master of Public Health (MPH) with a focus in Epidemiology from George Washington University. While completing her MPH, she was inducted into the George Washington University chapter of Delta Omega. Katie also earned a Bachelor of Science with honors from the University of Arizona, majoring in Microbiology and minoring in Chemistry.
