Yoon Hong, PharmD, PhD has joined the Statistical Research & Applications Branch (SRAB) of the Surveillance Research Program (SRP) as a Scientific Program Manager with Kelly Services. In her role, Yoon will be supporting various activities related to SEER-pharmacy/claims data linkages and classification of systemic cancer treatments.

Yoon obtained her Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) and her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Pharmaceutical Health Services Research from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Her dissertation used SEER-Medicare data to examine changes in the patient cost responsibility for multiple myeloma-related care over time, and how the receipt of patient cost-sharing assistance and the socioeconomic environment together affect treatment utilization and outcomes among elderly Medicare beneficiaries with multiple myeloma. In her role as a graduate research assistant at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, Yoon conducted analyses of public and commercial claims datasets, one of which was a study that examined clinical and sociodemographic characteristics associated with the receipt of stem cell transplant among elderly patients with multiple myeloma.
