Annelie Landgren joined the Surveillance Research Program (SRP) as a Project Manager in the Office of the Associate Director in November of 2018. She supports several SRP initiatives including the Virtual Pooled Registry (VPR), the Data Source to Data Release project, and in the pilot studies of de-identification of clinical narrative text and Natural Language Processing (NLP).

Annelie is originally from Stockholm, Sweden. She graduated from Malmö University in 1993 with a BS in Science Education and worked as a teacher until 2000. Before moving to Maryland in 2004, she was a sales representative at Glaxo SmithKline. Annelie completed her MPH in Epidemiology online through a Swedish University. Since 2016, she has upheld a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI).

Prior to joining SRP, Annelie spent 12 years working in the Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics (DCEG) where she coordinated the 4th Edition production and release of Schottenfeld and Fraumeni’s reference textbook, Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention, and became involved with the VPR project. Her primary role for the VPR was to facilitate and submit requests for the linkage between the US Radiologic Technologist Study (USRT) cohort and 47 registries. Using the experience gained through the application processes and correspondence with all these registries, Annelie is contributing valuable insights to several VPR working groups, with special focus on the group developing the VPR Cancer Linkage System—an online system built by IMS to streamline and simplify researcher access to registry data.
