Anca Preda has joined the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) Surveillance Research Program (SRP) in the Surveillance Informatics Branch (SIB) as a Health Scientist Administrator. During her time here Anca will be supporting various activities related to advancing precision cancer surveillance through the application of informatics tools, methods, and architectures. Anca is also working on the National Childhood Cancer Registry (NCCR) and its component, the Virtual Pooled Registry-Cancer Linkage System Project (VPR-CLS). Anca will also be contributing her technical leadership and guidance to the Data Acquisitions and Linkages project.
Anca obtained her Medical Doctor degree from Carol Davila University in Bucharest, Romania and her Master of Public Health from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD. Prior to her position at the NCI, Anca was employed at the Health Resources and Services Administration/Bureau of Primary Health Care (HRSA/BPHC), where she served as a Health IT Expert Analyst in developing, monitoring, implementing, and evaluating quality improvement projects and public health programs at the state and national levels and served as a Contract Officer Representative (COR) and Project Manager (PM) for various contracts. During her detail with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality/Center for Evidence and Practice Improvement (AHRQ/CEPI), she led strategic planning for the Agency’s Clinical Decision Support (CDS) Evaluation goals. Anca is extremely interested in innovative methods for linking and integrating various data sources to reduce the childhood cancer burden.
