Kathleen Thoburn

Kathleen Thoburn is a Senior Communications Specialist, Health Contractor working with the Data Quality, Analysis, and Interpretation Branch (DQAIB) of the Surveillance Research Program (SRP). She conducts data quality analyses on data submitted from SEER registries and makes recommendations regarding public release of the data.

Kathleen is a Oncology Data Specialist with over 26 years of experience in public health. She has held positions at the New York State Cancer Registry, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Program of Cancer Registries, and the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer’s National Cancer Database. Kathleen is a member of the National Cancer Registrars Association, and the North American Association of Central Cancer Registries.

Kathleen graduated from Vassar College with a BA in Biopsychology and performed extensive graduate study in Pharmacology and Toxicology at Albany Medical College and Cancer Epidemiology at the Albany School of Public Health. The focus of her expertise is standardized data submission, collection, classification and quality assurance, cancer registry operations, and design and development of statewide and national data collection and reporting systems.
