GSR: Privacy Policy

Purpose of features requesting addition of new simulators and requesting changes of descriptions for existing simulators

The purpose of the simulator features are to allow users of genetic simulators and/or the GSR website to request the addition of a new or updated simulator, or modifying contents or feature descriptions for existing simulators (those resources already catalogued in the website). This will allow users of the website to provide feedback, suggest additional simulations, and ensure GSR is as accurate and up to date as possible. We encourage users of GSR to review the website and descriptions of the simulators and to provide feedback.

How these features work

All requests for new simulators and requests for content updates to existing simulators will be reviewed by a moderator.

The addition of new simulators will depend on appropriateness of inclusion within the resource. Simulators must simulate genetic markers, haploid and diploid DNA sequences and RNA and protein sequences of the human genome. Simulators without an accessible web page or download link and those that are designed solely for teaching purposes and are limited in their ability to simulate usable genetic data will not be included. In addition, we will exclude simulators that have been replaced by newer or updated simulators from the same authors.

All requests for new simulators or modifications to existing simulators will be reviewed to ensure their adherence to the GSR policy regarding content below. In addition, requests for modification of descriptions of simulators will be sent to simulator authors for review.

Policy regarding content

We expect the simulator to be relevant to genetic simulation and that participants treat each other with respect. We will not post material that:

  • Are clearly off topic.
  • Contain phone numbers or email addresses.
  • Contain vulgar, profane, or abusive language; personal attacks of any kind; inappropriate religious, sexual, political, or racial references; unsupported accusations.
  • Endorse commercial products, services or entities.
  • Endorse political parties, candidates, or groups.
  • Infringe on copyrights.
  • Solicit funds.
